Sure, most people come in to get relief from some sort of pain – low back pain, neck pain, referred pain, headaches, etc. – you get the idea.
For some, back pain can be more of an annoyance and for others, back pain can be completely debilitating.
While chiropractic is very safe and effective for relief of back pain, a lot of people use it for very different reasons.
People are surprised to see children in the practice and assume they must be in pain of some sort. I occasionally see children with back pain, but generally they’re coming for different reasons:
- sleep problems/disturbances
- bed wetting
- digestive problems/constipation
- poor posture
Athletes typically come in for come in for different reasons:
- treatment of an injury due to over-use or some sort of trauma
- speed up recovery from injury
- better sports performance
They may seem like very different conditions or very different reasons to visit a chiropractor. But, what I want you to understand is this – whether it’s for back pain or for some of the reasons above, chiropractic works the same way.
I’ll go into the science of how chiropractic works in my next post.
